BYLAWS OF SCIPS 50 PLUS
(ST. CECELIA INTERPARISH SINGLES
ARTICLE 1 - NAME AND LOCATION
The name of this association is St.
Cecelia
Interparish Singles-50 plus.
Location: Colreavy Hall, St. Cecelia Parish,
Myrtle and Jasmine Way, Clearwater, Florida
ARTICLE II - PURPOSE
a) To provide
varied opportunities for
spiritual, intellectual, emotional and social growth.
b) To provide a Christian atmosphere of group
activities and self-government within the organization.
c) To provide entertainment and purposeful
activity to be enjoyed with like groups.
d) To serve as an information center where
members can locate club resources for personal needs.
e) To inspire the members to reach out and
support others, thereby reinforcing their feeling of self-respect and
usefulness
f) To stimulate
members to find new areas of
interest.
ARTICLE III - MEMBERSHIP AND DUES
Sec. 1: Membership shall be made available to
persons fifty years of age or over who are single, separated, divorced,
or widowed both Catholics, or non-Catholics and who are sponsored by a
member. Members who marry may continue membership, including former married
members.
Sec. 2: All members shall be entitled to equal
voting rights.
Sec. 3: The annual dues of $15.00 shall be
payable upon the date of becoming a member. If economic conditions warrant, the
Executive Board may elect to increase the membership dues at the beginning of
the next calendar year. Effective January 1, 2008 the dues increase to $15.00
per year.
ARTICLE IV - OFFICERS AND DUTIES
Sec. 1 The elected officers of the
association
shall be President, Vice-president, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Non
elected officers: A Spiritual Director, the pastor of St. Cecelia's Church or
his designated representative; an Administrative consultant, the director of
adult programs in Colreavy Hall.
Sec. 2: The President shall preside at all
meetings of the association; the President shall be, ex-officio, a member
of all committees.
Sec. 3: The Vice-president
shall perform all
duties of the President in the absence of the latter. The Vice -president with
the approval of the board secures the programs for the monthly meetings.
Sec. 4: The Secretary
shall keep the minutes of
the meetings and a file of the records
of the association. He/She shall carry on all necessary correspondence.
Sec 5: The Treasurer shall collect all moneys
due the association from every source; deposit same in the name of the
association in a depository approved by the Executive Board. He/She shall keep
the accounts of the association and report in detail thereof at each
regular meeting of the members
and furnish a complete financial statement in writing annually. He/She shall pay all
bills approved by the Executive Board.
ARTICLE V - EXECUTIVE BOARD
Sec. 1: The Executive Board shall consist of all
elected officers and the chairpersons of all committees. Since the association is a
St. Cecelia's Parish organization, at least one Board member shall be a member
in good standing of the Parish.
Sec.
2: The Executive Board shall have charge of affairs, funds, and property of the
association; they shall have full power, and it shall be their duty, to carry
out the purposes of the association according to its bylaws; and they shall
exercise all powers of the association as herein otherwise provided.
Sec.
3: The executive Board shall meet at least
one week prior to the regular monthly meeting of the membership.
Sec. 4: Special meetings of the Executive
Board
shall be called by the President upon written request of at least three members
of the Executive Board.
Sec. 5: Two-thirds of the members of the
Executive Board shall constitute a quorum, or in absence of full membership of
the board, two-thirds of those present
Sec. 6: The Executive Board shall have the power
to authorize rules for their own regulation
and government.
ARTICLE VI - MEETINGS
Sec.
1: The regular meetings shall be held in Colreavy Hall, once a month, on a date
predetermined by the Board of Directors. (Revised 10/28/2011)
ARTICLE VII - ELECTION AND TERM OF OFFICE
Sec.
1: A nominating committee of 3 members, including the Spiritual Director or the Administrative
Consultant shall be chosen
by the Executive Board at least two months prior
to the annual election.
Sec 2: The nominating
committee shall prepare a
slate of nominees for the offices of President,
Vice-president, Secretary, and Treasurer. This slate shall be presented to the
membership at the
February meeting. Further nominations for inclusion
in the slate can be proposed from the floor this regular February meeting.
Sec. 3: The annual election of officers shall
take place at the regular meeting in March by written ballot. Members must be
present in person to cast their ballots.
Sec 4: The installation of these elected
officers shall take place at the regular meeting in April.
Sec. 5: The President, Vice-president,
Secretary, and Treasurer shall hold office for one year, or until their
successors are chosen at the regular election and duly installed.
Sec. 6: The officers may be elected to succeed
themselves.
Sec. 7: On case of vacancy occurring by
resignation or otherwise, the officers shall have the power to fill such
vacancy for the unexpired term.
ARTICLE VIII - ORDER OF BUSINESS
The
order of business at the meetings shall be as follows:

Prayer by the Spiritual Director or his substitute
3.
Program introduced by Vice-president
4.
Reading of Minutes
5.
Report of Treasurer
6.
Report of Committees
7.
Unfinished Business
8.
New Business
9.
Adjournment with prayer by Spiritual Director or his substitute.
ARTICLE IX - COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP
Sec.
1: The Executive Board shall arrange
for appointment of the chairperson of each of the
following committees: Membership, Activities, Publicity, Volunteer Services to
church community and civic community, Refreshments, Decorations, Sunshine,
Hospitality for guest and new membership, and any other committee as may
be deemed necessary.
Sec. 2: Membership
in a particular committee
shall be arranged through the Committee Chairperson.
Sec. 3: Committee activities and expenditures
must be approved by the Executive Board.
ARTICLE X - AMENDMENTS
Sec.
1: These bylaws may be amended by two-thirds vote at any regular meeting of the
association, provided that notice of the proposed amendment shall have been
presented at the previous
regular meeting.
Sec. 2: These
bylaws may also be amended by a
two-thirds vote at a special meeting of membership
called by the Board for that purpose.
ARTICLE XI --Parliamentary Authority
The rules contained in the current edition of Robert's Rules of
Order Newly Revised shall govern the organization in all cases to which
they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with these Bylaws.
